di Gabriella Grace Aglioni
What’s music you ask me?
The sound of our feet thumping on the floor?
The sound of the birds singing at dawn?
The sound of that piano playing Bach down the road?
Music finds us wherever we go.
Could it be the glance at the swirl of the red skirt of that girl?
Have you seen?
…the beat she felt opened her soul
and she couldn’t hold back from the thrill of it all.
I’ve seen the freedom people feel in their bodies when they dance to a
song.
Or the tears that drench my Grandmother’s pearls,
at the sound of the passionate notes
of Rodrigo’s Concerto.
The fingers of the guitarist pluck the chords,
and the melody enters her soul.
I’ve heard stories of the importance of the use of
melodic vibrations
in African and Indian tribes
to communicate with Mother Earth.
I’ve tasted some of the most exquisite foods with the escort of a song.
So, what’s music you ask me?
It’s that untouchable thing
that attends each step of our lives;
from our mother’s heartbeat
from the safety of the womb
to the soar of the bugle’s final call. Leggi tutto “What’s music?”
